The past few weeks has been very emotional for me. I have known it was coming for a while now but I wasn't quite prepared.
You see, our children are spread pretty far apart. Our oldest was 16 when the youngest was born.
Kortney is 21, Michael is 18
James is 11 and Eli is 5.
It sounds crazy to us too, but you can't argue with God's plans.
Every year on the first day of school I am sad. Yeah, I am that mom! I love having the kids home all summer, taking vacations, spending the day at the beach, catching caterpillars, that kind of stuff. So the first day of school is always tough for me but this year was the worst.
Kortney just moved into her first apartment.
Mike went to college five and half hours away.
James started Middle School.
and Eli started Kindergarten.
and for the final blow... I turn 40 on Monday!
James and I used to laugh about how nuts I would be when this all went down. He joked that he was leaving home for the month and to call him when it was over and safe to return. Now that the time is here... it's really not that funny.
I am unamused.
Well, I WAS unamused. Until this morning when James took me for a walk on the beach and then to the
beach house he rented for the weekend!!
and because he knows what a sentimental sap I am, it's the first beach house we ever rented. I just think that is the sweetest, most wonderful thing ever.
I am so excited to relax and play with the kids for the weekend and do a whole lot of nothing!
Suddenly, this month doesn't seem so bad after all :)
