Flower Tree Nursery

Last weekend we had the pleasure of installing several decals in a new nursery.  Little Ruby Lee isn't due until January so there wasn't any baby furniture in the room yet but I think it's going to be fabulous!

We had originally met Ruby's parents (who are so wonderful) at the Cape Fear Maternity and Baby Expo and then they came to the studio and we spent some time going through the color choices and design options.  Since the baby's bedding hadn't been selected yet we had no "inspiration piece" but it was fun to start from scratch!

Mom and Dad deciding on our Flower Tree design
with a few extras.

We "carved" Ruby's parents initials in the tree trunk.  I chose a font that wasn't too "neat and clean" so it would look more like a real carving.  SO CUTE!

My favorite part of the design is Ruby's name hanging from the tree branches with cute ribbons. (Click on the pics to enlarge)

The two trees are on opposite sides of the room and the flowers blew toward each other and met at this sweet saying that will be above Ruby's crib.

Thanks so much N & J, we are so honored to have played a small part in your little girl's nursery  :)

btw, sorry for the lousy pics, I think my camera is on it's way out.

Auction Fever...again

If you've been hanging around our blog awhile you probably know that I LOVE going to auctions and that James, well let's say he doesn't love going to auctions.  He likes going for about ten minutes and then he's ready to go home.  So I go alone or with a girlfriend. Our marriage thanks me for that!

Due to the fact that our tiny house is packed full of furniture (especially small tables, I can't seem to get enough of them) and I am supposed to be getting rid of things not bringing more home, I've been resisting the call to go.  Literally, they call and ask if I want a reserved seat!  Trying to break my will!

Well, it's working.  Tomorrow I am going to my favorite auction house, Big South Auction in Wilmington, NC.

Here are a few items that caught my eye from their preview pics.

This little seat would be great in my little guys room

Love this for our dining area... not too sure about the color though

This desk would be great in my "mom cave" which still isn't started.  I could fill all those little cubbies in seconds flat!

With a slip cover or reupholstered this chair would be so great.

Hoping this bed is queen size... it looks like a full though, doesn't it?

No idea here I would put this but I think it's awesome!

James really needs a new dresser and this one matches our furniture (kinda)

Can never have too many garden urns, right?

I couldn't find a pic of the cute table in the back (all the way to the left) but I gotta check it out!

Your probably thinking "holy macanoli, she's going to get all that?!" No, my friend, I will probably get out-bid on most of those things (because I am cheap thrifty and come home with a motorcycle that no one wants (it's happened before!)
I'll let you know how it goes!

Home Town Shopping Featuring The Hooked Fish

In our small town of Hampstead, NC, we are lucky enough to have several thrift shops, consignment stores and home decor shops.

One of my very favorites is The Hooked Fish

Family and owned and operated by Beverly Dale, Susan Geek, and Melanie Rich, The Hooked Fish is a quaint little cottage packed full of fabulous home decor items.  Even the sunny front porch is full of treasures!

Their inventory changes all the time but here are just a few of the the terrific items there last week.
Bright, beachy paintings by Melanie

I found this hoosier cabinet in the kitchen
(yes, the cottage has a kitchen SO CUTE!)

The Hooked Fish has a definite coastal feel to it.  You can tell these ladies LOVE the beach!

Tons of loveliness in the dining room too!

I am loving these bright colors!

It could seriously take you hours to peruse this enchanting boutique, there are so many gorgeous items to look at!

They even carry homemade soaps that smell awesome and lots of jewelry too!

 and lots of furniture too!

I ooh'ed and aah'ed the entire time while snapping pics!

I know that you are itching to get there so here's the address and hours.

Ready for the Winner?

Thanks to everyone who voted for their three favorite chalkboard decal designs.  I was a little surprised by the results, for sure!  It's a good thing we did the poll or I would have made a listing for a design that no one else liked, then I would have been bummed that no one was buying it so thanks for saving me the disappointment!  You are all so good to me :)

So the winner of her very own chalkboard decal is (drumroll please...) Jen of pineyflatsstyle!  Congratulations, Jen! Shoot me an email with your address and your choice of chalkboard design and I'll get it right out.

The most popular designs were this Fancy Frame

and this frame too (five of the top six designs were frames!)

To thank everyone who helped us out by voting we would like to offer you 20% off your chalkboard decal purchase.  Now through Friday, November 5th use coupon code CB20 when purchasing either of the frames we have available on our site (if you would like one of the others that isn't listed send me an email and we'll work it out)

Oh and don't forget our Gender Neutral Monkey in a Tree and Girl Monkeys in a Flower Tree Decals are on sale now through Wednesday November 3rd.
